During the Vietnam War, many soldiers carried "Peace Marks(Peace Signs)" hanging from their dog tag chains. Fighting soldiers and "Peace Marks(Peace Signs)" seem at first glance to be contradictory, but it's no wonder that soldiers sent to the battlefield against their will would wish for peace.
